Beamish Bus Depot

Location: Beamish, Stanley
Client: The Living Museum of the North
Architect: Sadler Brown Architects
Main Contractor: Team Build Construction
Scope: Civil & Structural Engineering Design

As part of the ‘Remaking Beamish’ development, this new-build bus depot replicates historical construction techniques and aesthetics to form part of the 1950’s village.

An open space was required, sufficient to park and service 1950’s busses, with associated service pits built into the slab. Poor ground conditions presented another challenge, which were overcome by ground-improvement techniques, overcoming obstacles both in restricted access and existing buried services.

The Jasper Kerr team are all regular visitors to the ‘Living Museum of the North’, an open-air monument to historical North-East life, and are delighted to have had an input to the site.
