Following graduation in 2002 he set out into the world of engineering consultancy and became a Chartered Civil Engineer in 2007 while working at a major multi-national company.
Specialising in the fields of flood risk assessment, drainage and highway design, Darren has been heavily involved in the design of a wide range of local projects including The Sill Visitor Centre in Northumberland, City Campus East at Northumbria University and the infrastructure design of the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) in Sunderland. Further afield, Darren designed the below slab drainage for the South Glasgow University Hospital, lead the civil engineering design of the Hutton Substation extension in Cumbria and designed the drainage and external works for the luxury Brooklands Hotel on the former racecourse in Surrey.
Darren has gained a broad range of project experience in healthcare, education, residential, leisure, commercial and industrial developments and is well versed on the National Planning Policy Framework with respect to flood risk and drainage.
Outside of work, Darren enjoys going to the gym and is a keen Liverpool FC fan which originates from his roots in north east Wales and is proud to have passed this obsession on to his son.
