Ashley Smith

Senior Civil Engineer
Ashley has more than 7 years in the construction industry following his undergraduate studies at Teesside University in 2015 and then a gaining a Masters in Flood Risk Management from Newcastle University in 2019, managing his studies whilst working full time in the industry.

Ashley initially started at a small civil & structural consultancy following graduation, before joining an international environmental, engineering and mining consultancy based out of their Newcastle office. In early 2022, he joined Jasper Kerr as a Senior Civil Engineer.

With a high level of experience across all sectors, including flood risk, drainage, highway, and earthwork design, Ashley has seen many projects from design concept through to construction. He has experience of various types of development across the UK, from residential, commercial, industrial, renewable, quarry, landfill and waste sites, his work has ranged from single dwellings up to a 600-hectare windfarm site. His experience includes civil infrastructure planning for northern phases for Killingworth Moor; civil infrastructure design for Warrington Motorway Services for Extra MSA; planning and construction for Premier Inn, Alnwick; remediation and construction design of Path Head Landfill remediation; survey and remediation design for shallow cover gas pipelines, working through to construction, for sites throughout the UK; planning and construction design for a Northumbrian Water pumping station including rising main; Section 278 design for Phase 1 and Section 38 & Section 278 design for Phase 2 of the development entitled Windy Edge, Alnwick.

Outside of work, Ashley is an avid hiker completing the Everest Base Camp Trek in 2017 and loves hiking the fells in County Durham and Northumberland. Ashley also likes a variety of sports including football and enjoys playing in goal.
