Simon Brent

Simon has 8 years of engineering experience, working on commercial, residential and educational buildings.

This broad range of sectors was achieved whilst working from Graduate to Senior Engineer at a multi-national consultancy. Prior to this, Simon graduated with a Masters’ degree from Newcastle University with First Class Honours.

Prior to joining Jasper Kerr, Simon had the opportunity to work abroad on international projects, and also became chartered with the IStructE. He has worked as lead Structural Engineer, managing other disciplines as well as the structural design, on multi-storey projects as well as refurbishments and small-scale works. Simon won the Young Structural Engineer of the Year award for the IStructE Northern Counties in 2017 for his work on a complex city centre structure with below-ground challenges as well as aspirational architecture.

Simon is an ex-rugby player and now a youth coach, qualified with the RFU. He enjoys football and supports Newcastle United. Travelling is Simon’s passion, and he regularly draws surprise (or concern from some!) at his choice of destinations.
