Steve Jasper

Steve started life in the construction industry in 1986 as a trainee ‘draftsman’ at RT James. In 1991 he left full time employment to go to Sunderland University where he gained a degree in Civil Engineering, which was the start of his journey as a graduate structural engineer at a multi-national consultancy.

Steve worked his way from Graduate Engineer to Technical Director responsible for the performance of the Structural team in the Newcastle office. During that era, in 2001, he became a chartered Structural Engineer.

After 25 years at the same company, Steve left the business to form Jasper Kerr in early 2017. His philosophy is to create a ‘people’ business whose aim is to be a caring practice offering a more personal, hands on service and approach to his clients.

Steve has worked on many projects, large and small, over his 25+ years in the business and is particularly proud of his work in the Higher Education and Health sectors, helping deliver such award-winning projects as the City Campus East buildings at Northumbria University and the Emergency Care Centre at the QE Hospital in Gateshead.

Steve is passionate about the North East and has lived in Newcastle all his life. He still plays football on a regular basis and is burdened with supporting Newcastle United! He is a dedicated family man and has two children, both of whom help to make him a grounded individual!
